FC3 Cosplay Contest Rules and Regulations
.) All cosplay props are subject to inspection by convention staff upon admission to the convention. Weapons deemed completely unsafe will need to be removed from the convention area. Props and weapons may be “tagged” by the staff to signify that they have been inspected and deemed safe.
Please Note: New York State weapon and firearms laws are in effect and no weapons will be allowed in the convention proper. No exceptions.
.) Nudity, partial or total, is not acceptable for the convention area. Cosplayers are subject to removal if they do not abide by this guideline, or if the cosplay staff deems the costume inappropriate for the family friendly environment.
.) Cosplayers must register for the costume contest at the designated registration table. You can also register prior to the convention via the FC3 website, but you will still need to check in the day of the convention.
.) Once entrants have completed registration, they will be grouped into adult and youth (12 and under) categories, and assigned a time for pre-judging to be completed. You will also be given a sticker with a number on it, which you must wear during pre-judging and during the actual panel. Please arrive 10-15 minutes before your designated time in order to ensure that we stay on track and are able to pre-judge all our entrants effectively. If you fail to show up to pre-judging, you will not be allowed to participate in the actual stage portion of the contest.
.) Once prejudging has been completed, the actual Cosplay Contest will occur in the form of an hour long panel. Please check the FC3 website and social media accounts for the time and location of the panel. You will line up 10-15 minutes prior to the panel in order according to the numbers you were assigned at check in. Pre-judging will occur on Saturday May 20, 2017 on the stage from 12:00-12:50. Cosplay Contest Panel will be 1:00-2:50.
.) Your judges will have a copy of your pre-judging form and will be judging you in the following areas: Accuracy, Overall Performance and Craftsmanship. However, both accuracy and craftsmanship will be scored during pre-judging. At the panel you will be solely scored by our judges on your Overall Performance. Do not simply walk across the stage and pose, as this will negatively impact your scores. You will have to OWN it in order to impress our panel of skilled judges. You will have 3 minutes to excite the judges and get them excited about your cosplay. The judges may ask you some questions about the costume or character, and will score you accordingly. No full out skits will be permitted due to time constraints, but you are more than welcome to get creative in other ways…show off a prop! Do an imitation!
.) Once the scores are calculated, awards will be given based on the average of the three scoring criteria. A formal list of the prizes and award areas will be announced later on, via the FC3 website and social media pages, and at 4:35 on the Stage on May 20, 2017
.) While this is a competition, we highly discourage poor sportsmanship and bullying. Either of these offenses may have you ejected. We have a no tolerance policy when it comes to harassment and take it very seriously.
.) Please note that entry to our contest is strictly on a first come, first serve basis, and that we may cap or close registration in the event of a high volume of entrants.
.) You must have a valid ticket to FC3 to enter the contest. Registering for the contest online does not, in any way, shape or form, guarantee you entrance to the convention. Tickets can be purchased via the FC3 website.
